Old Red

Listening to this song while I work....I love this song.  I think that it is really funny and cute.  It is a love song for puppies!  It also always reminds me that there is almost always a solution to a problem if you are creative and patient enough.  ;)

Old Red
Blake Shelton
Well I caught my wife with another man
And it cost me ninety nine
On a prison farm in Georgia
Close to the Florida line
Well I'd been here for two long years
I finally made the warden my friend
And so he sentenced me to a life of ease
Taking care of Ol Red

Now Ol' Red he's the damnedest dog that I've ever seen
Got a nose that can smell a two day trail
He's a four legged tracking machine
You can consider yourself mighty lucky
To get past the gators and the quicksand beds
But all these years that I've been here
Ain't nobody got past Red

And the warden sang
Come on somebody
Why don't you run
Ol' Red's itchin' to have a little fun
Get my lantern
Get my gun
Red'll have you treed before the mornin' comes

Well I paid off the guard and I slipped out a letter
To my cousin up in Tennessee
Oh and he brought down a blue tick hound
She was pretty as she could be
Well they penned her up in the swampland
'Bout a mile just south of the gate
And I'd take Ol' Red for his evening run
I'd just drop him off and wait

And the warden sang
Come on somebody
Why don't you run
Ol' Red's itchin' to have a little fun
Get my lantern
Get my gun
Red'll have you treed before the mornin' comes

Now Ol' Red got real used to seeing
His lady every night
And so I kept him away for three or four days
And waited till the time got right
Well I made my run with the evenin' sun
And I smiled when I heard 'em turn Red out
'Cause I was headed north to Tennessee
And Ol' Red was headed south

And the warden sang
Come on somebody
Why don't you run
Ol' Red's itchin' to have a little fun
Get my lantern
Get my gun
Red'll have you treed before the mornin' comes

Now there's red haired blue ticks all in the South
Love got me in here and love got me out

Something 'Bout...

I haven't posted in awile because I have been hiding out, laying low, if you will.  I don't feel like I have to lay low anymore.  It is a nice feeling.  Here is a song by Kip Moore that it one of my new favorites!  It reminds me of some sort of kid song or something...something like "the head bone's connected to the neck bone, the neck bone's connected to the...."  Except it is about fun stuff like trucks, beer, kisses and creeks!  A song where one things leads to another...

Kip Moore
Something 'Bout a Truck

Somethin bout a truck in a farmers field
A no trespass sign, and time to kill
Nobody's gonna get hurt, so what's the big deal
Somethin bout a truck in a farmer's field

Somethin bout beer, sittin on ice
After a long hard day, makes it taste just right
On that dropped tailgate, on a summer night
Somethin bout beer sittin on ice

And there's somethin bout a girl, in a red sun dress
with an ice cold beer pressed against her lips
In that farmers field, will make a boy a man
There's somethin bout a girl in a red sundress

And there's somethin bout a kiss, that's gonna lead to more
On that dropped tailgate, back behind the corn
The most natural thing you've ever felt before
There's somethin bout a kiss that's gonna lead to more

And there's somethin bout a truck in a field And a girl in a red sundress with an ice cold beer to her lips
Beggin for another kiss
And there's somethin bout you and me and the birds and the bees
And lord have mercy it's a beautiful thing
Ain't nothin bout it luck, there's somethin bout a truck

Somethin bout a creek, around 2 a.m.
After a few of those beers, you wanna dive on in
You don't need no clothes, so just hang em on a limb
There's somethin bout a creek around 2 a.m.

And there's somethin bout a truck in a field
And a girl in a red sundress with an ice cold beer to her lips
Beggin for another kiss
And there's somethin bout you and me and the birds and the bees
And lord have mercy, it's a beautiful thing
Ain't nothin bout it luck, there's somethin bout a truck
Ain't nothin bout it luck, there's somethin bout a truck

Country Self Improvement Song

Can't wait to see him this summer!  I really like this song because it is about learning from your past and trying to be a better person in the future....something I believe that we should all make a lifelong goal and process.  I have learned many life lessons over the past few years and hope to continue to do so!

Tim McGraw - Better Than I Used To Be

I know how to hold a grudge
I can send a bridge up in smoke
And I can't count the people I've let down, the hearts I've broke
You ain't gotta dig too deep
If you wanna find some dirt on me
I'm learning who you've been
Ain't who you've got to be
It's gonna be an uphill climb
Aww honey I won't lie

I ain't no angel
I still got a few more dances with the devil
I'm cleanin up my act, little by little
I'm getting there
I can finally stand the man in the mirror I see
I ain't as good as I'm gonna get
But I'm better than I used to be

I've pinned a lot of demons to the ground
I've got a few old habits left

There's one or two I might need you to help me get
Standin in the rain so long has left me with a little rust
But put some faith in me
And someday you'll see
There's a diamond under all this dust

I ain't no angel
I still got a few more dances with the devil
I'm cleanin up my act, little by little
I'm getting there
I can finally stand the man in the mirror I see
I ain't as good as I'm gonna get
But I'm better than I used to be

I ain't no angel
I still got a few more dances with the devil
But I'm cleanin up my act, little by little
I'm getting there
I can finally stand the man in the mirror I see
I ain't as good as I'm gonna get
But I'm better than I used to be

Songs About Me

This song basically describes why I like country music....[

Trace Adkins - Songs About Me

Met a guy on the red eye
He spotted my guitar
And said what do you do?
I said, I sing for a living,
Country music mixed with
A little rock and a little blues
He said I'm sorry
But I've never been crazy
'Bout that twang and trains and hillbilly thing
What ever made you want to sing stuff like that?
I just looked at him and laughed and said

Cause it's songs about me
And who I am
Songs about loving and living
And good hearted women and family and God
Yeah they're all just
Songs about me
Songs about me

So I offered him tickets
I said you'll see what I mean
If you show up tonight
He said I doubt you'll change my opinion
I'll be kind of busy, but hey man, I'll try

Then later on when we finished our songs
About scars and cars and broken hearts
I saw him, he was standing there
Right next to the stage
And he shouted
Man you were right
It was like you sang those

Songs about me
And who I am
Songs about loving and living
And good hearted women and family and God
Yeah they're all just
Songs about me
Songs about me

So I'll just keep on singing
'Til I hear the whole world singing those

Songs about me
And who I am
Songs about loving and living
And good hearted women and family and God
Yeah they're all just
Songs about me
Songs about me

Rush back home...

There is one line of this song that I really like.  I wouldn't say that I am a work-o-holic, but I do like my job and want to be good at what I do.  I learned a long time ago, working in one of my first jobs, how easy it is to let work consume all others aspects of life.  I swore that I would not do that to myself again.  This can be a very difficult thing to do, and I think that as a society, we have a hard time taking care of ourselves and not overworking.  According to CNN, employees in the US get an average of 25 days off a year (between vacation and paid holidays).  Sounds great, but compared to Italy (31), Japan (35) and France (40), to name a few, our leisure time seems pathetic.  Then when you take into consideration that many business people are never really "off the clock," taking calls in the evenings, checking email on weekends and vacations, do we ever really allow ourselves the down time that we need.  I think that it is so important to seperate work from home and to actually be "disconnected" from work and relax.  So, all that being said.....here is the line of the song that I like:

"I used to rush off to work and get home late but
Now I show up late and rush back home"

Here's to taking the time to take care of ourselves and our families!

Chris Young - You
The bluest skies don't seem so blue
And the stars seem to be a little dimmer too
Now that you're around you put 'em all to shame
Let me break it down cause what I'm trying to say is

No one gets me like you when you kiss me
Girl you rock me harder than some downtown band
I thought I knew what love was but I didn't have a clue
I never found anything that makes me feel like I do about you

Gotta whole new direction it seems these days
I used to rush off to work and get home late but
Now I show up late and rush back home
My priorities are different, I can't leave you alone

No one gets me like you when you kiss me
Girl you rock me harder than some downtown band
I thought I knew what love was but I didn't have a clue
I never found anything that makes me feel like I do about you

Girl if you ever get to guessing if I'm thinking about you

Just remember that

No one gets me like you when you kiss me
Girl you rock me harder than some downtown band
I thought I knew what love was but I didn't have a clue
I never found anything that makes me feel like I do about you

You you you, youuuuu, whoa you
